From MSU to “I DO”

Here is our story, mostly from Sami’s perspective with a bit of Brett mixed in.

October ‘21

It all started a night at a bar in MSU called Dublin Square. Sami was enjoying a drink with Grace when two guys approached them, one was never making it past the first conversation. Brett on the other hand, told Sami he was in a certain frat and that he just transferred from playing D3 golf. They hit it off immediately, trading golf stories, which they both grew up playing. After the night was over, Sami was curious to find out more about Brett. No matter how hard she searched, she couldn’t find him in the fraternity he had claimed to be in. She soon figured out that was not entirely truthful and he may have been trying to impress her. For months, Brett continued to pursue Sami, who was hesitant. Luckily, her mom finally talked some sense into her and convinced her to go to dinner.

Brett being Brett, was excited for dinner and couldn’t find his wallet all day. After searching frantically, he found it and was able to take her out. At dinner, they noticed they had the same ring on as one another, which led to over two hours of conversation. As weeks passed, they continued to date growing closer. What started as a spark over golf talk, soon turned into a special bond.

May ‘23

After MSU graduation, they both moved back home. Sami to Buffalo to go to grad school for OT and Brett back to Michigan for work. After a year and a half of long distance, they grew closer and Brett made the decision to pack up his life and move to Buffalo with Sami so they could start the next chapter of their lives together. He moved so Sami could chase her dreams without having to press pause on theirs.

Brett popped the question on the beach at his favorite family summer getaway. With a picture of his papa in his back pocket, who had just recently passed away. The setting was beautiful and the immediate family from both sides was there to witness the proposal.

The two of them are excited for the next chapter of their lives together. They can’t wait to make special memories with all of you on their wedding day.
